Kata rahasia atau di dalam pramuka sering di sebut sandi, memiliki banyak sekali jenisnya, salah satunya adalah sandi kompas. Sandi kompas adalah sandi yang bentuk nya menyerupai jarum kompas. Sandi kompas diambil dari arah mata angin yang ada di kompas.
Karena jumlah mata angin yang ada di kompas hanya berjumlah 8. Sedangkan jumlah huruf alfabhet ada 26 huruf. Maka, untuk membedakan nya digunakan lah garis yang berjumah1, 2, dan 3 di tengah tengah garis mata angin.

Sandi Kompas di buat seperti dan searah jarum jam. Jadi, dari huruf pertama ke huruf berikutnya tersusun dengan memutar seraha jarum jam, yaitu ke sebelah kanan.
